Frank Family Vineyards – The Fine Details
Situated on the historic Frank Family Vineyards estate in Napa Valley, the Miller House is a single-story, hybrid-use hospitality event barn designed to complement the existing winery with architectural authenticity and enduring materials. The Miller House totals 2,200 SF of conditioned interior space, paired with 2,000 SF of trellised porches, creating a seamless transition between enclosed and open-air environments.
The structure is wood-framed and clad in a combination of horizontal and vertical painted wood siding selected to age gracefully over time, echoing the surrounding agrarian context. A standing seam metal roof was chosen for both its durability and aesthetic compatibility with the estate’s historic architecture. Exposed wood rafters and beams define the interior ceiling structure, bringing warmth and rhythm to the space while paying homage to traditional barn construction.
Interior programming includes a commercial-grade catering kitchen with stainless steel appliances, a concealed mechanical system, ADA-compliant restrooms, and a large open gathering space with a masonry indoor fireplace. The trellised porch—constructed with custom-fabricated steel—extends the hospitality function outdoors, featuring an additional fireplace, fire pit, and ample space for shaded seating and dining.
The building is oriented and detailed to respond to site conditions, views, and solar exposure, while maintaining accessibility and service flow for event operations. Doors and windows are framed in powder-coated steel with energy-efficient glazing, allowing natural light to flood the interior while offering framed views of the surrounding vineyard.
The Frank Family Miller House is both a functional event venue and a considered architectural gesture—one that merges contemporary hospitality needs with timeless Napa Valley character.
